I have a 2000 Odyssey. I can't find in the owners manual where the
evaporative canister is. I'm getting a 1457 code which says there's something wrong with the emissions system and I want to check out the canister and tubing, etc. before I have to take it in to the dealer. Any ideas where the canister is or where I can find out where it is? TIA -- Bearman If it's got tits, tires, tubes, or transistors, it's trouble. |

It is on the driver side under the rear of the intake air filter. This code
is also generated by leaving the gas cap loose. Make sure it is tight, at least 3 clicks. For tons of information on it visit www.odyclub.com forum and search on the code...... The gas cap comes to mind, with a 2000 being pretty young for the next suspect: a cracked vapor hose. Mike |

I can't find it. I see what looks to be the evap valve with its hose running to the air intake. And I see a hose running toward the back of the engine compartment to the firewall. The diagram on the inside of the hood shows an arrow pointing aft with the words "To Canister." And what happens when you follow that hose back? What's at the end? My evap canister is a big black cylindrical thing on the firewall near the fuel filter. -- TeGGeR® The Unofficial Honda/Acura FAQ www.tegger.com/hondafaq/ |

The hose I was talking about drops down from the firewall and heads toward the rear of the van. I haven't been able to get under the van yet to see where it terminates. |

You'd want the end that goes to the firewall... does it actually go through the firewall into the passenger compartment? I wouldn't expect that. Mike |

But in the engine compartment, that tubing goes to the evap solenoid or whatever that valve is called. The other tube out of the solenoid goes to the air intake. Bearman |
