Default Just bought a new CR-V EXL 4WD!

Hello all,

I just made the decision to buy a 2010 CRV 4WD. I got a good price on
it and it included the rear mud guards, carpeted floor mats, wheel
locks and it also has something I didn't ask for but it came on the
car because the had to hunt down the color I wanted from another
state. It has something called laser etching. I understand this
usually costs a good amount of money but I got it for free. Does
anyone know if it really does cost a lot of money?

I found out that the one I have was built in Japan as opposed to Ohio.
The dealer had a couple of silver ones from Ohio on the lot which had
continental tires on them. This one came from Japan and has
Bridgestone Duellers. How do those tires compare? I heard that they
aren't that great, but others said they are decent.

I did not get the Nav package because it would have cost $2,000.00
more and I thought that was a waste of money. I'm really excited
already. What a nice car this is.

My wife had Duellers as OEM a Mitsubishi Montero. They lasted a long
time and rode well

Costs about three bucks, but if you ask the finance manager, he'll tell
you it's $1000.

Okay so how did they ride in the snow? Most likely the deepest I'll be
riding in is 6" and thats only if the roads are partially snowed over
due to blowing snow etc. I am hearing that they don't do well in an
inch of snow, but do well in several inches. I really don't know
anything about laser etching or what it entails. It was there and I
got it for free so I don't mind having it. So far I drove the car on
dry highways at 55 mph and on city roads and it felt fine.

My boss just bought one. Same as yours, but in silver.

That's often thrown in for for free.

Take a look at the rectangular metal tag visible in the bottom corner of
the windshield. Does the text begin with a "2" or a "J"?

My boss bought the NAV package. So far, he likes it. But he didn't know you
need to buy regular CD updates until I told him...

You made an excellent purchase. The CR-V is a very reliable car.

Thank you, I really do like it. I'm noticing that the stereo is not as
loud as some of the accords. I have a friend with a fairly new accord
and I've driven it several times. The stereo in the CRV is supposed to
be the same as the new accord, but its not as loud for some reason.
Maybe the CRV has more noise dampening materials? Its really quiet and
smooth on bumps and has good cornering on dry pavement, steering feels
good too.

As far as my VIN number it starts with a "J".

Yes I am told they are very reliable. I just hope I don't have trouble
with the tires, but I went online and read some reports about the
Dueler tires and they are used on Mazda, and Toyota SUV's among
others.

My CR-V replaced a 2005 Accord EX. The stereo seems better but Hondas
have more interior road noise & need more sound dampening. Part of
that may be Hondas are sportier not little old lady rides like
Toyotas. There are drivers that say Hondas are too low to the ground
& steering too sensitive. They want the Buick-Caddy smooth ride.

Starting in 2007 the CR-V stereos have the feature the lowers the
sound volume when you slow down. It doesn't seem to bring the level
back to where it was when you get back to speed (i.e. 70-80mph on the
highway). My kid plugs in the I-pod & cranks it up. Unfortunately
you can't hit the Info button on the radio to see the song info from
the I-pod or the radio station ID. I heard the Navi pkg does that
cause you can plug into the data outlet in the glove box.

i wish Honda would add HD radio like the BMWs that allow access to
secondary FM feeds from existing stations free. Or give the
bluetooth standard w/out having to get the Navi option like Hyundai or
Ford.

Enjoy your new ride!

Thanks. Yes I think Bluetooth would have been nice, but I try not to
talk on the phone if I'm driving too much anyway.

Then it's Japanese-made.
