Default 96 Accord compact spare has sidewall cut

While checkin the air pressure in my newly acquired 96 Honda Accord I
noticed that the donut emergency spare tire would not hold any air. Also
traced the leak to a sidewall cut that looks like it was created from
someone driving on it with little to no air in the tire. Is it possible for
a full size spare to fit in the same space as the compact spare in the trunk
fully inflated? Was it even an option in the in the beginning?
Thanks
Greyhound

In my 93 Honda, there is no room for a full size spare. The diameter
of the tire is okay, but a standard tire is far too wide to fit in the
well.

Also, as I understand it, you cannot buy a tire for the special rim,
you must buy a complete tire and rim. Not cheap.

You can probably get a *new* one at the junk yard. Every so often I see
never-been-used compact spares left in cars at the local pick-your-part.
For that matter, I have a 10 years old never-been-used compact spare in
the trunk of my car. I am hoping it will stay that way :-).

Yup I guess it's time to hit the boneyards.
I didn't know they weren't repairable-Oh well.
Thanks
