Default over-revving between gear changes

Honda Prelude 2.2vtec (tiptronic)1997. When driving the engine over-revs
between gear changes in auto mode. This was more apparent when the engine
was cold but now it seems to do it now when the engine is warm. What could
the problem be? I have read that it could be the A.T.F.? I have also read
that it could be the I.C.M.? Can anyone help me please???-corey.

Without knowing your mileage, the best guess is still:

Somebody put non-Honda tranny fluid in the thing. Do a drain-n-fill on
it, drive it a ways, and do it again.

If a fluid change doesn't do it, check the resistance of the transmission's
lockup solenoids. My 1988 Prelude had the same symptoms and I found that the
solenoids which should be about 30 ohms had gone to around 900 ohms. I replaced
the solenoids and that fixed it.

The other possibility is that the transmission control computer is
deteriorating. It might have leaky driver circuits so that the solenoids don't
pull in as sharply as they should.
