Default 2003 Si Starting problem & Engine cuts out

I have a 2003 Si w/ 24,000 mi. Twice in the past 10 days the engine
cut out while accelerating from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd. The
electical stays on, the engine just stops working. Today it took me
nearly 30 minutes of trying to get it started. It sputters for a
couple of seconds sometimes when attempting to start. This started a
couple of months ago with the car only failing to start. Let it sit
awhile or try to start it many times and it will start. Now it has
progressed to the engine cut out while driving. Any ideas.

Why not take it to your dealer? The car should still be under warranty. You
have under 36,000 miles and the car is less than 3 years old.

I wouldn't have even hesitated the first time. If anything is even
perceived as not right, I take it in (while under warranty) That's one of
the perks of buying new... free repairs

I go to the dealer today......for the second time. The first time I
went, 6 weeks ago, I was told they couldn't find anything wrong.
"Bring it in when it has the problem". Back then the problem was only
that it wouldn't start without many, many attempts. Now it has
progressed to the cut out while driving. I'll post my experiences. I
have seen postings where the MAIN RELAY may be the problem. I've
suggested they check it out.

Ask the mechanic at the dealership to run tests on the relay since that's
probably the source of the problem. If they refuse to do it, ask the
service manager to have one of the mechanics take it on a test drive. If
they won't fix the problem, threaten to contact a gov't agency and have it
considered under the lemon law. That might scare them into fixing the
problem.
