I bought a new honda in May 2004. Today (at 1500 miles)
my VAN stoped on the road at low speeds and the dash board shows
check-engine light and the TCS light.

1) What are my options?

2) How do I know if the dealer has performed the recall related fix for
the transmisson in April 2004?

3) Is it possbile that the VAN has significant transmission
damage? If so how do I ask for a replacement VAN ?

Take a whole bottle of paranoia pills and then take the van to the dealer
and let him fix it.

Get your van to your dealer. If it doesn't run or if you're concerned about
further damage (probably none) then have it towed. Honda will pay for the
towing. Your warranty will pay for all parts and labor for any defects in
manufacture or failure in service while your warranty is in effect.

Ask them! They have nothing to gain by misinforming you. The dealer has
incentive to perform ALL warranty repairs on all vehicles because they get
paid by Honda to do those repairs. They are paid at the same labor rate that
you would pay. They do not get a discount on their hourly rate. The update
for your vehicle did not officially start till about late spring, so it
probably has not been done until you bring it in to get done. If it has been
done the dealer is required to centerpunch a mark over the eleventh digit on
your underhood VIN number.

At 1500 miles there is probably no damage relative to the update on your
transmission. Don't ask for a new van. You will not get one. You will get
your necessary fix or even a replacement transmission, but the sequence and
procedure for you to get a new vehicle has not yet happened. There is
nothing else wrong with the rest of the vehicle so why would Honda replace
it? They will fix what is wrong.
Bring it in, visit your dealer, treat them with respect and they will treat
you the same. You'll be surprised at how well they will treat you and your
vehicle. Their future depends on it. If one dealer doesn't satisfy you, try
another. Most cities have more than one dealer in town. Good luck,

It's been almost 2 weeks since you added this note. I was wondering what
the resolution was (I'm just being curious). I used to sell Hondas vehicles
and everything Howard said in his reply was exactly correct.

except the part about what honda would pay as opposed to a
customer. honda flate rate time sucks ona lot of things.
take the van in and find out what the problem is, the trans recall
covered very few 2004's. and the problem only surfaces after 75,000
miles or more.
