Default Slipping Transmission

91 Accord 4 cyl AT, 200K
Cars runs great, looks pretty good, lately trans slips in lower gears when
accelerating from stop or downshifting. It stays in the slipping mode but we
found that placing the shift lever in neutral, turning the key to the Off
position, restarting and shifting back to D allows the shift to occur.
Any ideas or thoughts appreciated.

How many times have you drained and refilled with Honda Z1 ATF,
recently? What color / smell is the ATF.

Thanks, car is my neighbors, he just bought it last weekend so he's not
changed out fluids etc. Existing fluid has good color, no burnt smell.
Previous owners service records indicate a flush/fill was done sometime in
the past, he (neighbor) didn't say what the mileage was at that time. Most
all the service was performed at the factory shop in Marysville, though.

Same here, going to take it to the dealer this week to force them to
either sort or tell me I need a new transmission.

I will let you know what happens. Just out of interest, how many miles
does your have?
