i have an 87 accord and my cigerette lighter doesnt work. i checked all the
fuses already and before i take my radio out to see if the lead is still connected to the lighter outlet i would like to know where , if in fact it has one, the cigerette lighter relay is. i need to plug in a radar detector and vacuum. |

1.
Do you have the ignition key in the correct position when you check to see that the cigarette lighter is working? On my 1991 Civic, the key must be at least in position II for the lighter to work. 2. www.autozone.com has free repair guides. For the 1987 Accord, it says there is a fuse (or possibly relay) for the cigarette lighter. Look under "Chassis Electrical," then "Circuit Protection," then "Fuses." It says: "Generally, the in-car fusebox holds fuses for the cabin circuits such as wipers, cigarette lighter, rear defogger, etc." 3. On my 1991 Civic, there is indeed a cigarette lighter fuse/relay in the in-car fuse box. Note to anyone: Please don't nitpick the point that there is a difference between fuses and relays. There is a difference, but it so happens that my in-car fuse box label calls the cigarette lighter circuit protection a "relay." yeah, i had the car on when i tested the lighter outlet. i think maybe i
pulled out the connection by mistake when i was installing the radio so i guess i will have to remove the radio to test it. thanks "Caroline" <caroline10027remove@earthlink.net> wrote in message news:dvo_c.5756$Vl5.2624@newsread2.news.atl.earthl ink.net... > 1. > Do you have the ignition key in the correct position when you check to see > that > the cigarette lighter is working?
