Default 2001 Odyssey with Navigation and rear tv screen?

Hi Group I'm new here and recently bought 2001 Odyssey with the Honda
Navigation and rear TV screen. We have tried to use it but not having much
luck so far. Have put a movie cd in the cd player under the drivers and get
an error on the Front Navigation screen, tried it in the dash Stereo unit
and that cd player just spits it out. Is there a third cd player player for
use with the rear screen? Sorry to bother you all with this but the Van
didn't come with a manual.

Thank You
Dale

http://www.odyclub.com

http://www.hondacars.com and click on OwnerLink. You may be able to
download an owner's manual there. You may certainly buy one from
http://www.helminc.com

Now: Honda to date has not made any Odyssey with both navigation and
rear TV screen. (That will change with the 2005 model.) The Honda Rear
Entertainment System (RES) debuted in the 2002 model; due to the
original design never being planned to accommodate all this stuff, one
could buy either the navigation system *or* the RES--they're mutually
exclusive.

But you have a 2001 model, where Honda never offered a rear TV screen.
Therefore, yours is a third party piece. Your best bet is to take it to
an auto electronics/stereo shop and have them figure it out for you.
They're the experts in all this, and your system is absolutely some
third party add-on.

To add the nav DVD player is only for the nav system and will not play movie
DVD's. For lots of information try www.odyclub.com and do some searches on
the forum. There is a ton of information there...

the dvd player is in the dash under the audio unit above the lower
center sorage bin, it says dvd on it somewhere. the one under the seat
won't work for anything but navi, and the audio unit is for cd's only.

Read the original post. He has a 2001 model--which was NOT available
with the factory DVD player at all. The factory Rear Entertainment
System became available starting with the 2002 model.

So his factory nav-equipped Odyssey has an aftermarket video system of
some kind, either VHS or DVD. Who knows where the DVD player might be.
But it sounds like he's trying to put the video DVDs into the DVD reader
that drives the nav system--which will never work...

Elmo,

You're correct, it turns out it is equiped with an Audiovox and the player
is missing. I did order an Audiovox DVD player which is on the way. I
found the wiring for the missing player under the 2nd row of seats. Thanks
for your help.
