I'm soon to inherit a 1999 (2000?) Accord LX (on condition that I use
it): What are the commonly accepted mods to firm up it's ride and
handling?

Would an Eibach -1.5 spring kit make it ride like "a wagon"?

Are there any real power benefits to low-restriction intake and
cat-back exhaust mods, or will it just *sound* "more zoomy"?

What are allowable tire size upgrades?

Does anyone make a kit to firm up the operation of the auto trans?

And finally: Who are the established aftermarket and performance
parts houses?

If you ever plan on getting any money out of it then limit your mods to the
barest. Leave the transmission alone.

Adjustable coilovers might be your better bet as you can obviously just
lower it a lot or a little.

Lower series tires such as a 50 series with the appropriate wheel, perhaps a
17" and the coil overs will help a ton. Of course you start sacrificing
ride quality as you lower the car and the profile of the tires.

Leave the stupid ass coffee can mufflers on the shelf. They are annoying to
others, don't produce an increase in horsepower in proportion to the sound
of the exhaust, and helps the cops to locate the cars that they should be
pulling over and harrassing.

I am sure there are a few reinforcing strut bars for the front and rear
along with some under the car stiffener items. These are really just a
bolt on item.

id stay away from the coilovers unless you go highend, like tein (very $$$)
eibach's firm up the ride without making it unbarably stiff. Strut tower
bars and lower tie bars will stiffen up the car more then you'd think for
such a cheap bolt on.

I'm willing to trade a good bit of ride for dynamic stability. I'm
coming from a G2 Integra.

Yeah, I figured that, just wondering about the real benefits of less
extreme systems: I know nothing about the Accord's power train.

system!

The also sound totally dorky on a car with an automatic.

I haven't driven a 2000 accord, but the 2003 lx I have is pretty stiff
on the suspension already. I was going to look into making it smoother,
cause its a pretty jarring ride.

Heading north on i29 into SD and its a good hour of getting the crap
pounded out of me.
