Is it sticking up out of the valve cover?

Is your intake manifold in /front/ of the engine or /behind/ the engine?

Here is a drawing showing the PCV valve for a 4-door 2001 Civic LX,
manual tranny. If yours is not 4-door yada, backtrack to find the
drawing for yours. Most likely the drawings are the same.

http://www.bkhondaparts.com/billkay/...itch=&hidIrno=

Assuming you can get your hands in from the top, use needle nose
pliers to remove the hose clamp (#7, both or one as needed) and pull
off the hose. Then rotate the PCV valve a bit, and pull out. A little
bit of liquid soap on the mating surfaces of the hose and valve (so as
not to get into the main part of the valve and so your crankcase) can
help re-installation.

I would not recommend liquid soap. These can contain silicone compounds.

Just use clean engine oil. PCV parts are designed to be in the presence of
engine oil.
