Default Opinions on Transmission service how often?

Well admist the problems Im currently having, I decided to have my
transmission flushed and filled (Its been 40,000 miles since I last did
it) The tranny was shifting horrible slamming between 1st and 2nd and
shakin trying to get over drive (auto)

Now after tranny flush its smooth as butter but Honda is advising to
change every 3,000 miles till it comes out clean. Would it be better to
find someone that can do a Ttech (any recomendations how to find a Ttech
dealer) or should I just flush every three thousand miles?

Thanks in advance
Dennis

It sounds like somebody put in DexronIII, or similar. Without knowing
the year, mileage, model, all is speculation.

Just to revise, Thats how it "was" running it is 150 percent better after
the service.

But Honda is telling me its just going to happen again because the fluid
was soooo dirty and I should be flushing it every 3,000 miles but of
course the dealer would be makin 47 dollars a pop so I think they are
exagerating a bit.

Does anyone now about the Ttech that supposidly flushes you tranny clean,
Iver herd runs 130 dollars but I dont know who does it in my area...

Honda is sort of correct, just buy the tranny fluid, and change it every
weekend after a brisk drive, Use only Honda ATF. About 3 litres each time.

Do it three times.

Face it... Do you think Honda takes it for an aggressive spin before
they drain it? Yeah, from the back lot to the service bay.

Am I to understand that, you're hesitant about spending $47.00 at your
dealer a couple of times, but have no qualms about spending $130.00 for
another type of service?

I personally have my dealer change the transmission fluid every 45-50
thousand kilometres. Not a big deal in my mind, or expense.

Dennis,
It's impossible to remove ALL of the old fluid during a normal
transmission flush and fill. It's my guess that the Honda mechanic wants
you to have it flushed and filled after 3000 miles so that most of the
remaining "old" fluid can be removed from the system. After that--you can
go back to your regular schedule according to the recommendations in the
owners manual.

I just went through this with a Maxima (I30). The procedure there (in the
factory service manual) was to check it every so many miles and change it
with a drain and fill when it either turned dark or smelled different. The
Nissan procedure is: drain and fill; drive it for 5 minutes; check for
color and smell; repeat drain and fill if necessary.

Not sure why you would want to wait 3000 miles if the bad fluid is still
winning. Only about a third to half the fluid is changed with a drain and
fill. Its not unreasonable to do it a couple of times (or several) if one
change doesn't clean it up.
