1993 civic
auto trans
morning startup shifts from 1st to 2nd fine will not shift to 3rd for about 5 min and at high rpm happened 3 days in a row when it finally shifts make whizzing sound then clunks.. after this initial shift is fine for the rest of the day any suggestions will be appreciated../ new/used tranny on the way.... just wondering what the cause could be??

Synchronizers are shot.
