My wife has a '99 Accord 2 dr Coupe and gets great gas mileage with the 4 cylinder, it also has plenty of pick-up. Do you need 2 or 4 doors? Carry passengers? What's your driving habits? I wish my Mustang had 4 cylinders cause the 6 cylinders uses some gas but not a lot, it's also built for speed not mileage. Mike |

I've owned 4-cyl hondas since 1982. I now have a 2001 V6, and I will never
go back. I am spoiled. PS, I still get 27-30 Mpg. G-Man "JoJo" <jdoe@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:cntyc.1$Y5_.0@news04.bloor.is.net.cable.roger s.com... > I am looking to buy a new Accord but undecided between the 4 or 6 cylinder. > Your opinion please. Advantages and disadvantages. > > |

Accord and on a trip thru the Mojave dessert I got it up to 130 miles per hour. It has all of the power that I need. However, if you like lots and lots of power, buy the 6 cyld. The downside is that the miles per gallon will be less with a 6 cyld. The choice is really up to you. I've been shopping with the same dilemma. After driving a 4 first, I drove a 6 and thought, this isn't all that much faster. But when I drove a 4 again after that, it felt like a sewing machine! And the 4 is a lot noisier, whinier. So now I know I'm going to stay with the 6. The gas mileage isn't much worse. Plus I think the V6 is quite a bit heavier and seems to improve the feel and stability of the ride. Wheels and tires on the 6 are slightly larger also. John |

Made no difference in my insurance.
I also think the auto-tranny is MUCH smoother on the V6. When new the 4 cyl seems to have lots of get up and go, but after a while
all that energy seems to downgrade a bit. The V6 has lots of power and literally coasts on the highway especially when moving along at 70-80 mph. Engine RPM is low in comparison with the 4 cyl with a corresponding reduction in the noise level. Gas mileage is not that different. Overall, nothing like the V6. The 4 cylinder is fine, but the V6 is better. Has noticeably more power
and surprisingly, the mpg is quite good, although not as good as the 4 cylinder. JoJo wrote: > I am looking to buy a new Accord but undecided between the 4 or 6 cylinder. > Your opinion please. Advantages and disadvantages. > > |

Thanks Guys, I think I'll go with the 6 over the 4.
Should I go with the extended warranty or is this a very reliable. Does it have any inherit problems like GM (former gm owner) such a leaky head gaskets or GM's famous piston slap? Timing belt or chain? How does the Accord stack-up to the Camry. Appreciate all response.
