Just dumped my 2001 Taurus for a 2000 Civic VP... A few things I miss
from the Taurus I'd like to see if it can be implemented in the Civic: The cigarette lighter was constantly on with the Taurus - didn't require the keys in the ignition. Is this possible in the Civic? Also, at one point, I had the stereo constantly powered - but since that was a stock stereo, it also kept a few other things constantly powered, and every night my battery would be dead. Does anyone have this set up on a Civic? How is it done? Thanks. Evan -- To reply, remove TheObvious from my e-mail address. |

You can have a constant on cigarette lighter. Mine came that way but you
can also wire it yourself. Experience tells me you'll need to follow the wires back from the existing cigarette lighter and find where the lead connects on the fuse panel. There may be some unused slots available in your panel. Use a volt meter to determine which of the unused slots are hot when the car is off and rewire your cigarette lighter to use one of them. I ran an extra cigarette lighter for my radar that's only powered on when the key is in the "on" position and had no trouble at all. Good luck.
