Hi,
I've got a 97 Civic. A while ago some part fell off the external door handle so the door would not open from the outside; only from the inside. Fine. Now, the door won't open from inside or out. I think the child safety lock engaged. How can I open the door? There's got to be a way, yes? Thanks! |

I suggest that you visit a Honda dealership and purchase a new external door handle or a part for the exisiting external door handle. You could get a better deal from a junk yard dealer. Those junk yard dealers are on a computer network and should be able to get you what you need even if they don't have a wrecked Civic on the lot. The control for the childproof lock is on the rear drivers side door. -- NEWSGROUP SUBSCRIPERS MOTTO We respect those subscribers that ask for advice or provide advice. Very good, but: the door won't open. From inside or outside. How can it be
opened? About the only thing you can do is take the inside door upholstery out and
release the latch from inside the door shell. Take the seat cushion out first and you should be able to door liner off. While you're in there, maybe you can find the part that fell off and put it back. Check with your local tow truck operators. They have tools that they
can slip in next to the window and open doors. Maybe the dealer has them also. On Sun, 30 May 2004 16:05:56 -0600, "Andrew" <none@email.com> wrote: >Hi, > >I've got a 97 Civic.
