Hi,
This is an automatic, ex model, 89K. 2 times now, only on wide open throttle. The pedal is stuck to the floor. We have to turn the engine off to make it stop. Then, the pedal "sproings" from the floor. Has anyone had any problems like this? I don't see anything similar in the newsgroups, except some dirt related stickyness, or weather related stickyness. It is going to the dealer tomorrow. The person on the phone asked when we had our last fuel-injection tune-up. Bad omen... Thanks for any info! |

Bad omen... > > Thanks for any info! ==================== It's a mechanical problem with the return spring,(or maybe the linkage to the tranny or Cruise) and has NOTHING to do with your injectors. They are part of the electronics. It's also a very dangerous problem, no? Why not look under the hood, and see how it works, and have a helper push the pedal? Maybe the cruise has gone NUTZ. Try turning off the cruise switch on the dash. It's perfectly normal for the throttle cable to look a bit 'too loose' when it's in the resting position... Running to the dealer with your Visa card in your hand might be a bad idea without knowing (And I understand that's why you're here, asking) As for the 'fuel injuction tune-up, don't let them touch it... buy a bottle of Techron, and follow the instructions on the bottle. At 89.000 miles, you should (ignore the manual and) get a valve adjustment, and change your Dual Pump Fluid. Please let us know the outcome. 'Curly' |

Thanks very much. I will follow up.
I did check the linkage, and there is a lot of slack in the cable. Almost enough so that I'd tighten it up and be done with it. But since it's such a dangerous area, I'll let the pros have a look. I did change the transfer case fluid, based on a tip from this forum. It was making a bad "woooooo" sound on the turns. Best regards, jbh "'Curly Q.
