Hi all,
My 94 Honda Accord LX is starting to make a pretty loud clicking noise when I turn the car. More when I turn left then right but I can hear it when I turn it right as well. So based on what I've read so far on this board, it seems like it's most likely a CV Joint or boot, related problem. I called up Precision Tune (Billerica, MA) and they said they would most likely have to replace the whole axle (front left and right possibly) with a quote of approximately $250 per axle. They said it would be more cost effective to replace the whole axle considering the labor involved in replacing individual parts. Am I getting the sucker treatment here? Assuming the axle should be replaced, does this sound like a reasonable price? I don't know what kind of parts they will use. Ideally I'd like to buy a part myself and have it installed by someone but not sure how I'm going to find a mechanic to do that. Anybody from the area around Billerica, MA that know of a good shop or mechanics that they recommend? Finally, what other options do I have? I don't have a whole lot of time to do the work myself nor the right tools so doing it myself if pretty much out of the question. Thanks for any suggestions. |

just had both axles replaced-cost about $450. mechanic (whom I trust) said
better to replace axles than just cv joints. these were rebuilt axles. i think they got parts from Napa. they said new axles were out of sight as far as cost. i am not in your area. I had the clicking sound return shortly after replacing the right axel
(under $60 at advance lifetime warranty). I looked closly to see what was going on since the boots looked fine and what I found was the motor mounts were broken. The result was the trans and engine was shifting and binding the CV joints when I turned hard while accerating. Just somthing else to look out for. steve "stevef" <sf@dum.org> wrote in message news:103njtvqsevkbb9@corp.supernews.com... > just had both axles replaced-cost about $450. mechanic (whom I trust) said > better to replace axles than just cv joints. these were rebuilt axles. > > i think they got parts from Napa. they said new axles were out of sight as > far as cost. > > i am not in your area. > "grandizer" <grandizer69@hotmail.com> wrote in message > news:bc0d8144.0402241408.66818a20@posting.google.c om... > Hi all, > > My 94 Honda Accord LX is starting to make a pretty loud clicking noise > when I turn the car.
