Default SRS Light

Honda dealeer says the SRS light on mother-in-law's 2000 Accord is due to a
failed ODS (occupancy detection sensor). Estimated replacement cost of $300.
They say the airbags will not function without it.

Anyone know anything about this? Car only has 15,000mi. Dealer was wrong
before with regard to entering code in radio after battery was disconnected.
But that's another story.

Thanks,
RonM

Dealer came thru. They called to say that Honda will cover under goodwill
warranty.

i checked the honda sites for parts and found this at:
http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...cgry5=SRS+UNIT
now i know where they are located and in my case my daughter is always
shoving books under the passenger seat.. so that is where i think its
located and she probably pulled a wire loose.. hope i am lucky.. the
sensors go for about $60 wholesale and the boxes for this is going up in
price.. bet the dealer wants to charge you about $300 if its a loose
wire on the sensor...they will replace the sensor which might list for
$80 or more and put in a new cable that they will want $25-50 for and
then an hour of labor so that will break down to about $300... they
dont work cheap, nor are the parts cheap....
and when in doubt they replace, replace, replace.... they dont make any
money just plugging something back in....
