Default 2004 Accord info needed, I-vtech 4 cy vs V6 quality -reliabity and costs.

I am looking at purchasing an Accord for a second car for us to drive
around localy and some minor trips. I am overwhelmed with all the
information and specs on the cars. I wanted to get a response from
"Users" and their experinaces rather all the glossy sales brochures
and sales people.

I read where the 4 is a new i-vtech engine with a chain drive vs. a
timming belt? The replacement says not until the 105 K mile service?

I am deffently looking at the EX class with Leather, so my particular
car interest seem to be either the EX-L or the EX V6 and one neither
one would I want Navigation.

I live in Orange County, (Southern California)so the weather is not to
bad out here.

So if you folks out here that own the 4 cy 2004 or the V6 I'd
appreciate any comments, complaints or informaiton you may have to
pass on to me.

Also, I looked at the Acura TSX ? which is a 200 hop 4 cy, about 2
grand more than the V6 Honda Accord but its' really a refined interior
from what I saw..

Please email me your comments to davidki@yahoo.com and if you guys
have any pricing info I'd appreciate it...

Dave

I have a 2003 EX 4cyl. Good car, dependable, good mileage. Liked it so
much, I picked up a 2004 EX 6cyl with the Nav system and loaded (leather,
heated seats, etc) since I needed another car. Had a problem with the
brakes getting mushy at about 7k (4 cyl), service took care of it in a day
(TSB about the brakes on these).

The 4 cyl has plenty of get up and go, while the 6 cyl rocks pretty good!
Both have a good ride, good visibility. I like the Nav system with the
voice commands and XM radio (first time I've had one of them, and I like
it). I haven't looked at the long term service as of yet, so I don't know
what the timing belt/chain change frequency is.

If you were to ask me if I would do it again, yes, without reservation,
either one.

I suggest that you buy the 6 clyd Accord or the Acura that you like.
Before you buy--take it for a long test drive. I have seen several post
related to car seats in the 2004 that were very uncomfortable for some
people that have low back problems. I don't subscribe to any Acura
newsgroups so don't know whether or not there are the same sorts of
problems with their seats. I have a 1999 Honda Accord EX and have no
problem with the seats but I don't have back problems. Sarah has back
problems and hates by Honda Accord and says the seats in her Grand AM are
much more comfortable

I have an '03 Accord V6 w/Navigation. I love almost everything about the
car except for the nagging problems of various interior rattles and a
driver's side seat which rocks back and forth when starting and stopping.

The dealer continues to say that Honda is "working on a fix" for the seat
problem, and all they have done in trying to fix the rattles is to break one
of the interior trim panels.

I almost got that instead of the Accord and now I kind of wish I had. It
seems that Acura paid much more attention to interior trim fit and quality.

The seat rocking problem exists in almost all of Honda's models as
well as Acura. My brother's Acura EL and my sister's Honda Civic both
had the rocking problem. The fix is a bushing that needs to be
replaced under warranty. There is a service bulletin about this
problem.

Get on your dealer about this as it is documented in a service
bulletin. If they still deny it then go to Honda directly or another
dealer.
