I have a '94 Accord Stn. Wagon. I got a new key cut and it was cut
from a blank that is a little bit shorter than the original. As a
consequence I can't push it in far enough to allow it to turn back and
be removed from the ignition.

Anyway around this? Can I defeat the interlock temporarily?

For the record, the car is in park and the indicator on the dash shows
that it is in park.

I tried disconecting the negative terminal of the battery but no luck.

Sugggestions?

First thought is that you need to put some pressure on the steering
wheel, as if you were turning to the right or left.

Second, have you tried putting another key into the slot on top of the
steering wheel cowl (the one that releases the shifter lock)?

When you get it working correctly, try some LockEaze (aerosol) spray in
the ignition lock. It cleans and lubricates with the same stuff the pros
would recommend. Other lubes that may be in there will give trouble at
low temps, but graphite won't (although it's a bit messy).

I had the same problem. I called a Locksmith, and he came out, gripped the
end of the key with a pair of pliers, and turned it (that cost $30.00). The
info is free.
