I was going to change my PCV valve on my 94 Civic 5-speed, but no-one
carries them. Is this a dealer-only part? It's only $15 retail per majestic honda, so I might just drive down there and get it. However, I was looking at it and I can't figure out how the grommet comes off after you pull the vavle out. Should it stay in the engine or should I replace it? Haynes doesn't say anything about it. Any info?? Thanks!! Nate |

Autozone's web site says they sell a Beck/Arnley PCV valve for a 1994 Civic for
$14.04. The last one I bought was at a dealer's for about $20. (I will try Autozone's or Majestic's next time.) I changed my 1991 Civic's PCV valve last spring but don't remember difficulty with a grommet. I just bought the new valve, removed the old one, saw it was identical (except for age) to the new one, and installed the new one. I do see the drawings at Majestic for the two valves (91 and 94) are a little different. IIRC mine comes off with a 17 mm wrench. The first time I needed a tall socket and I think a ratchet wrench with a U-joint, because it was on pretty tight. Now I just use a crescent. No, mine pops off with my fingers, but there is a grommet it pops into. Should/Can that be replaced is the question I really needed to know. Thanks! Nate |

Thanks! http://www.honda.co.uk/owner/CivicManual/pdf/11-109.pdf indicates for a 1995 Civic that, yes, the grommet can fail and may need replacement. It describes (the usual) check for PCV valve/grommet correct operation. |
