I have a 2004 Accord EX V6. There is a little orange light (always
on) up by the map lights/homelink buttons. Does anyone know the
purpose of this light? Just wondering. Thanks.

What does your Owner's Manual say? Or the dealer?

I have not found any reference to it in the Owner's Manual, and when I
asked the dealer he said he had no idea.

You need to find another dealership. They should be able to answer any
question put to them about their product. When are they going to have the
answer for you? Assuming that they said 'I don't know, but, I'll find out
for you.'.

It's a nightlight. As far as I know, it's purpose is to illuminate the
radio switches and console a little. It's especially visible at night. I
have this in my 03 EX 4cyl 4 door too. I don't see the orange light on
these surfaces unless its dark outside. Don't know why they added it or why
its not independently switchable. I think it dims with the instrument panel
light switch.

Check page 120 of your owner's manual under "courtesy lamp"

I looked through the manual again and found a reference to it. It is
called a "courtesy light." Mystery solved, sort of.

I think it's a pretty cool feature. Not intrusive, but yet it adds the
the visibility in the dash and console area.
