Depends on the size of the stone, the velocity of the stone, the angle of
the strike, and the density of the stone. Might even depend of the
temperature of the windshield, and the speed of the vehicle as well.

Depends who's throwing it.

Hondas of recent vintage seem to have worse-than-avarage glasswork.

I've had several brands of vehicles over time, and the Honda's windshield
seems to have got more chips and pits than the other ones. It is also more
distorting.

The windshield is often as strong as the car's other body parts and in fact
it is a load-bearing part. In rollover accidents you often find the
windshield still intact. You will need a *very* strong blow to shatter it.

I had a 1993 Accord and a gravel hit the windshield and caused a hole that
was so deep that it could not be repaired by a shop that specializes in
windshields. The manager of the shop has some sort of liquid glass or glue
like glass that he makes use of to fill in small chips, cracks and holes
created by gravels. However, the hole mentioned above was so deep that he
was not able to repair it. He said a crack would eventually develop as a
result of the deep hole. I had to pay him for a new windshield. I advise
anyone that has a small hole or really small crack to have it repaired so
that a crack does not develop.
