Can anyone provide their experience and/or cost for obtaining a Honda
extended warranty for an Odyssey? I have a 2002 Odyssey EX with 31,000
miles and I am very concerned about the side doors. They have been a
problem under warranty and I am sure they will continue to be a problem
during the life of the vehicle. I have called some local dealers and I get
a price of approximately $700 for a 100,000 mile extended warranty. Some
dealers mentioned a deductible. I am sure the devil is in the detail with
the warranty.

$700 seems like a good price for the extended warranty. Remember, though
that the $700 is really buying a four-year, 64K mile warranty because Honda
new car warranty is for 3 years or 36K miles. I bought one in 2000 for
$1100. Worth it for the peace of mind. $50 deductible. It's really
insurance for catastrophic things like transmissions or engine problems.

Are you sure you weren't quoted a power train warranty. The cheapest I have
seen on a 100k BtoB warranty is $910. Call Claire Olson at Dick Brooks
Honda. 1-800-936-9090 She was selling the warranty at $50 over cost. I
believe after 24000 miles there is a surcharge on the warranty. I have also
seen on the ODYCLUB.COM forum that they do not cover the sliding door
mechanical on the extended warranty. Unless you are in Florida you can buy
the warranty from any dealer. It only takes a few minutes on the phone. Call
Claire and she will answer your questions....
