Looking to get a remote started installed on an 03 Civic EX with a
manual transmission. Do they make those? I know you have to have the clutch in to start so not sure how that would work. Also - how will it work with existing security system and computer chips in the keys. Can anyone recommend something? Thanks! |

The clutch interlock is not a problem at all, it is simply bypassed.
Many (if not most) systems will work with factory alarms as well. Your biggest problem is going to be finding one that works with a manual transmission. They do exist. I read about one (I believe Canadian made) that comes with a set of 4 IR LEDs and 4 IR receivers for the shift lever to sense that the transmission is in neutral. Check DEI (http://www.directed.com/), prestige, audiovox etc. On-line retailers that carry that sort of things include http://partsexpress.com and http://jcwhitney.com. One model that is advertised as working with manuals is Dirctstart CS423. Make sure whoever installs this gets the neutral detection switch done right! ismlv wrote: > > Looking to get a remote started installed on an 03 Civic EX with a > manual transmission. I actually installed the first one of those units "legally" in the U.S. Up to that point they are "smuggled" accross. |

Dealers don't like to install them on manuals, because they're afraid that at some point you'll forget to leave the car in neutral and hit the startup button the next morning and then sue them. |
