Default SpiralMax... Too good to be true??

Well, what's the deal here? It says you instantly supercharge your engine if
you fit this butterfly thing in the intake.

I'm no techie, but it seems like a con. What do you think guys?

It certainly does not supercharge your car. One might speculate that the
device causes turbulence in the intake air and that this would somehow
affect performance. Traditionally the goal has been to put LESS
restrictions in the intake, not MORE. I'd rather spend my $70 on Cabbage
Patch Dolls or Pet Rocks.

CON! It is know to open up the intake not put more crap in it and cause
more of a restriction to the airflow.

Utter waste of money. It will have no effect other than perhaps restricting
your airflow, causing the opposite effect it claims it does.

Most modern cars are electronic fuel injection;the fuel does not mix with
the airflow until it enters the cylinder,so making the air intake more
turbulent will not achieve any better combustion. As others have noted, all
it does is add more restriction to the airflow;a negative effect.

I would add a cold air intake, you will get a few extra HP and it will
make your car sound good... I put an AEM Cold Air I bought from
hondasolutions.com for cheap and it is awesome.

How many horsepower did the dyno show that your awesome Cold Air intake
created?

Hmmm... Chris, you posted five messages here in the past 24 hours, every
single one of them touting how great hondasolutions.com is - rather
suspicious.

Honda Tuning Magazine did dyno and flow bench tests of CAIs for Acura
RSX.The dyno showed that the CAIs made 20 extra HP,and much more
torque, compared to stock, and short rams only made about 5 HP,and not much
extra torque. They also tested the K&N filter, which did nothing. They had a
great, comprehensive article complete with graphs of the tests.

Well...CAI is good....spiralmax....LOL...spiralmax is a piece of
crap...doens't do anything...just makes a REALLY stupid noise.

But 20 hp from a CAI? Wtf...maybe 12-15 and some torque...IF you are lucky,
and if you have some other mods on your car like headers and
exhaust...otherwise expect more like 8 hp...but it really is a good
investment.
You don't have to keep replacing the stupid paper filters! and it helps your
engine run a bit cooler too.
