Hi!
I have some strange problems with electric system. When you turn lights on dash will come up immediately, but lights will come on in about 2 seconds. When you turn wipers on it could be like 5 seconds until they actually start working. I understand it's most likely relay but want to hear from people who had same problem. Also, it seems problem with wipers delay gets worse (longer wait) with time. ? Thanks |

Hi,
Do you have a good battery holding a good charge? Wonder if you have a weak battery or charging system. Tony,
I thought same thing before. But no, my battery is brand new (replaced week ago) It didn't change a thing... Hi,
Check poor ground connection on affected circuits. Tony Ivan Demkovitch wrote: > Tony, > > I thought same thing before. Why was your battery replaced? Because charging system is
not working properly? The only way to answer Tony Hwang's question is to measure vehicle system voltage. New battery would not solve the problem. Defective battery would be another symptom of that same problem. Ivan Demkovitch wrote: > Tony, > > I thought same thing before. Problem existed for a while (about a year)
I don't think battery would work for that long with bad charging system... Battery was 4.5 years old and it just died last week. I replaced it with new one. So, I don't think its related.... Granted we are speculating without sufficient information.
But a few facts. Delay of lights and delay of wipers would involve separate electrical systems or relays. The only common factor would be the system voltage. BTW, my Honda batteries never lasted less than 7 years even when always parked outside. Last battery went something over nine years. It may just be me. But still, until system voltage reading are taken with a digital multimeter (with engine off, with engine on, and with engine on and every peripheral on), then we cannot eliminate system voltage (charging system) from a list of possibilities. System voltage is the one common factor to 'strange' symptoms. Thanks.
Will check voltage first to make sure. BTW, you probably use good batteries. Any battery I bought (and I buy cheaper batteeries) never lasted more then 5-6 years... In every case, the battery was original from Honda. One was
even a Delco battery. Do be sure to report back. Your's is an interesting problem. Ivan Demkovitch wrote: > Thanks. > > Will check voltage first to make sure. > > BTW, you probably use good batteries. Any battery I bought (and I buy > cheaper batteeries) never lasted more then 5-6 years... |
