I had the same issue when I owned a 2001 Civic and I found the answer within
a minute in the owner's manual.

What's wrong with Jiffy Lube. Ours was very good. Not only got you
in and out quickly, at a fair price, but even vacuumed the carpets. I
say was because the owner dumped the franchise and went independent.

You could check your manual and see what's supposed to be done at that
interval. On my 2003 Civic Hybrid, the oil changes are scheduled for
10,0000 miles. My light started blinking for 6 seconds at 8000 miles, and
at 10,000 miles it came on solid. I had the dealer change the oil...
that's pretty much all they did, even though there was a very long
checklist which did not include vacuuming the car ;-)
I don't think they changed the filter. Looking at my schedule,
that's set for 20,000 miles.

Surely your manual shows you how to reset that light. I have a 2000 Odyssey
and my manual does. Usually it involves holding in on the odometer reset
button while you start the engine. Or something like that. My wife has the
van with the manual.

Same here except when I took it to the dealer for the engine oil change
and tire rotation at just under 10K and asked them to reset the blinking
Maint Light they refuse to do so unless I did the long list of their
suggested maintenance for $80.00. The rest of the items on the list are
only some inspection activites, so I declined and they did not reset the
light. What bastards. It came on solid after 10K.
Right after the service I was not in my home town and did not have my
manual with me so I did not know how to do the reset myself until I came
upon another dealer and stop by to asked about the situation. The
advisor said there is nothing else to do at 10K other than oil change
and tire rotation ans was surprised that the first dealer did not want
to reset the light so she did it in 30 seconds while I watched.
Now I know better.

My Canadian manual did say how to turn it off.
Anyway, you press the trip distance reset button while starting the car and
hold it until it goes off.

Hello, Honda. I'd be all OVER the customer service line at American
Honda, explaining my dissatisfaction to them.

Yes.

The Fine Manual explains it quite well.
