Default 98 Honda Civic Ex, wont start

I have a 98 Honda Civic Ex and about 3wks we replaced the spark plugs
& wires, fuel filter, batter and distributor cap, and ignition coil. A
few days ago I was driving and the car started to putter and it was
stuck at 65mph and I had to hit the brakes hard to get it to slow down
and the RPM Tack was moving up and down rapidly and it shut off. It
wouldnt start up again after that.

I have replaced the Ignition Coil thinking it was defective and even
with a new Ignition Coil it still wont start up. What else should I
check on or look for to try to fix this problem??

Hmm, I wonder if your Crankshaft position sensor went tits up? That may
explain the weird RPM thing and why your car won't start. I know
another thing that impacts our particular generation of Civic is that
dang main relay for the fuel pump, but I don't think that would have
caused your RPM issue.

sounds like classic igniter failure.

first thing is to scan the OBD-2 port for trouble codes.
Autozone will do this for free.

doesn't the tach run off a signal from the Igniter?

"stuck at 65mph" ??? bad TPS?? (throttle position sensor)

I stand corrected!

I only suggested the Crankshaft position sensor because a buddy of mine
managed to screw the wiring on his up when he was installing a cold air
intake on his Civic. I am still trying to figure out how he managed to
do that...
