Hi there!
One year ago, when my Odyssey was still under the extended warranty for its transmission, the check engine light turned on. The Honda dealer daignosed code P1736 - "3rd clutch pressure switch stuck open". The dealer cleared the code, test drove the van and determined that everything was fine. Now, one year later, with my car out of the transmission warraty extension, the dealer diagnosed code PO740 - "torque converter clutch system failure" and I was told I need to replace the entire transmission - cost $2,900. I called American Honda and after some discussion they worked out a deal with the dealer to cover 40% of the cost of repair. I believe Honda should cover 100% of the cost of replacement given that the transmission problem first appeared last year under the warranty. Are the 2 issues with the transmission I had related? Can I make a case that the transmission was going bad already last year? Thanks. |

I'm sure any deal you make here will hold up in any Honda dealership. You
should be having this discussion with Honda. How many miles out of warranty are you? Have you had the required transmission service done? For information on what others have done do a search at www.odyclub.com forum. <jcnog2001@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:11c1d27a-3d96-43c7-bda4-9f111ee84fb4@34g2000hsh.googlegroups.com... > Hi there! > > One year ago, when my Odyssey was still under the extended warranty > for its transmission, the check engine light turned on. No idea whether they are related, but it seems to me that if all the dealer did was clear the code and then drive the van, they were negligent as they should really have checked out the code. OTOH, that may be why Honda is offering to cover 40% of the replacement. Dan D '07 Ody EX Central NJ USA |
