SURELY someone has removed a clutch from a Honda AC compressor!

you need to take the nut off and pull the plate off, the remove the
snap ring and pull the bearing/pulley assembly off. i always take the
compressor out, but i have an a/c machine. you can try it in the car.
in my experience if the bearing is bad enough to squeal, then the
heat has been great enough to cook the front seal.

Thanks, that's basically what I needed. Does it use a common bearing, or
Special order/Honda only?

The AC system still has a lot of static pressure, so I assume it's holding a
charge. Perhaps the previous owner had the belt too tight and damaged the
bearing.

just order the clutch, it comes with bearing/pulley assembly and the
fron t plate. the bearing is staked in, i wouldn't try to replace
just the bearing.

Is that a Honda-only part? I checked with 4 Seasons and they do not offer it
separately.

call honda and ask. some of the older hondas had compressors that
were obsolete and needed whole units. i don't recall the CRX being
one of them but i'd check.
