The crankshaft will whip the oil into a froth, because the oil is too clse to the crank. Froth is not a good lubricant. |

It's perfectly fine to put 4L in there. Don't worry about it, most
honda shops will actually do the excat same thing if you take your car in to have the oil changed. You're not going to damage your engine untill you start putting 5L or more in there On Mon, 04 Aug 2003 14:23:50 GMT, "lastnn30" <lastnn30@yahoo.com> wrote: >yes I had good adivces and i appareciate that.. but I do not recall anyone >tell me how much. On what basis do you say that? Where does the 5L figure come from? My
impression has always been that you never want the oil above the maximum line. That's why there is a maximum. I don't believe that all dealers hand back a car with the oil above the maximum line. I'd definately drain it back down to normal level.

Hi,
Filter will soak up a little. Warm up the car then take a length of aquarium air line stick it into your
dipstick hole, suck up oil into the hose and siphon out a half liter. If you're scare, stick one end into a turkey baster and suck up the oil. and put it back into the bottle. If you're a little lazier, take the oil cover off, stick a plastic bottle with a large opening or cut an opening into a milk carton, over the hole and start the engine, rev it a little and let the spray go into the bottle, you'll have to tilt the bottle to hold some but you'll get a half a liter out eventually "lastnn30" <lastnn30@yahoo.com> wrote in message news OsXa.42166$4UE.34728@news01.bloor.is.net.cab le.rogers.com...> Hi > I changed the oil of my Civic 2001, I added 4L, now when I check the oil > level, I see it is above the limit, above the second hole in the dipstick?? > I thought my car takes 4L. This is assuming he hasn't started it yet, and hasn't filled the filter. I trust by now, he has, though...and rechecked the oil level correctly. There's a first time for everyone. Have a 200 EV V6 Accord. I believe that manual calls for 3.5 qt. Dealer
feeds via a nozzle and has been putting in 4 qts. I keep calling it to his attention as it always shows up on the dip stick as about 0.5 qts above the full mark. Once after a rude mechanic said "so what do you want me to do about it?" I had him drain out the excess.
