You're not gonna like this, but you asked. I think the next place to
look is in the carb float bowl. I've seen some of these with dirt and
rust in the bottom of the bowl that causes the float to run high and
sends too much gas to the engine.

Do You Have the Blurry "H" syndrome? When the car is in Gear, assuming it
is an automatic, does the H in the center of the steering wheel appear
blurry due to the idle roughness?? If so, have the motor mounts checked,
they are usually the culprit

If the float was too high because of crud in the carb bowl, it would SHUT
OFF the fuel! That would take a lot of crud!

Check the PCV valve.
