I've got a 2001 Civic with 135k, manual transmission. Don't know if had
the MT fluid changed ever. For about 2 days started to make a grinding noise when engine is revved up, typicaly in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. Any ideas what could be wrong? Thanks. |

Is this describing Change it with Honda MTF and see what happens. Google will help with the procedure, or www.tegger.com Check all the TSB's at tegger too. 'Curly' |

Don't know about the clutch fluid.
Actually I can never get into reverse in one move - have to try 2 or 3 times, while the tranny keeps grinding gears. Thank you. Dan 'Curly Q. Let's go one step farther - if you hold the clutch all the way down and gently try to shift into reverse, does the gearbox silently resist shifting in, does it grind but the grinding slows steadily, or does it grind and the rate doesn't change? If either of the first two, the problem is in the gearbox. The obvious first step is to have the gear lube changed with genuine Honda MTL (there have been good reports using Redline MTL, but I've never tried it). If the third one, the clutch is dragging. You need to bleed the brake fluid in the clutch hydraulic system. It's a thirty minute job for a you and a flunky. There is air (and likely lots of moisture) in the clutch hydraulics. 'Curly' |

Can you easily get into reverse with the engine OFF? -- TeGGeR® The Unofficial Honda/Acura FAQ www.tegger.com/hondafaq/ |
