Default Serious 2005 Odyssey Brake Problem?

I just had my 05 Odyssey serviced at the dealer for what sounded like
serious brake problems. I've read posts across the Internet from other
owners expressing similar problems. I describe the problem as a loud,
almost grinding noise, that comes from the front brakes during the last
stages of a hard stop (like stopping on a downhill). The noise is
accompanied by a vibration that can be felt through the floor. I liken the
sound and feeling to what can be felt when you tighten a wheel lug nut.
They creek as they are torque'd down. That's what the brakes sound and feel
like.

The dealer replaced the pads with ones they say are of a different material
than what came on it at the factory, and they turned the rotors. The
problem continues and may even be worse. There is something more going on
here than just the pads and rotors.

Any other owners with a similar problem, or knowledgeable folks who might
offer some direction on where to go with this?
Thanks,
Jeff

Same thing happening to our '05 Odyssey. I had it at the dealer all day
Saturday, and they heard it, and 'deglazed' the pads, and still same
problem.

Then, they finally found a "Honda Tech Line Summary Article",
#ATS050707..."Grinding, Growling Noise from the Front Brakes - A grinding,
growling noise when applying moderate to hard pedal pressure at low speeds
is caused by the brake pad friction material. An improved material will
be announced in a forthcoming Service Bulletin."

In fact, while online this morning searching for this Tech Line site (did
not find), I found this forum and saw your msg. Sounds like your pads'
material already replaced with no help...disappointing.

Hopefully, we'll see a recall soon...

BTW - just talked to American Honda Motor Co, in Calif., and I told them
you already had your material replaced, and they said that the material
being designed now to remedy this specific issue has not yet been
completed, and should be by Fall 2005. They do not understand why your
dealer would have used anything else.

Also, they noted an unrelated recall was issued yesterday having to do
with air bag sensor light problem. Told me to expect notice in mail about
repair.

Thanks for the info. I'll mention the article number you list here to my
dealer and see if they're aware of it.
