Default after changing oil! after math

Hi
I changed the oil of my Civic 2001, I added 4L, now when I check the oil
level, I see it is above the limit, above the second hole in the dipstick??
I thought my car takes 4L. What should I do now? I am scared to be honest?

Another question about the transmission oil, I tried hard to find where is
the "filling bolt" then I might find it, but I want to ask, is it the one in
the left hand side, I mean it is in the other side of the front, not where
the engine oil bolt is, but in another side? am I right. Thanks a lot.

It should take 3.5 qt. You need to read the owners manual

Chris, I think 2.5 is too low, add 3, then go from there
but he was told several times to check the manual and he didn't do it, he
had good advice before he started

If its not leaking, leave it alone. For future reference, you are supposed
to buy a new crush washer for the drain plug every time you change the oil.

That information is in the owners manual. Look under specifications or
capacities. If you don't have an owners manual, you should get one.

If you are going to start doing you own maintenance, you should also get a
service manual. The one sold by Helm (www.helminc.com) is the official
Honda book. Others available at the local parts store by Haynes and Chilton
are also good enough for most things (but not as good as the Helm book).

The information you get by asking around or posting on the web is
hit-or-miss. Many times you will get the correct answer to your questions,
but people who don't know the answer to your question will also volunteer
opinions and it can be very difficult to distinguish the real answer from
all the other ones.

A clerk at Canadian Tire doesn't know your car.

Have you started the car yet? If not, do so, to fill the filter.

If you need to get some oil out, change the filter again. That'll loose
about hald a litre.

that'd be a good idea.. i've read that too much oil can be a bad thing...
(if someone else could elaborate on why?) ... plus not having a washer is
bad too..

but hey, it's a learning experience.. i've changed my oil once or twice..
just so i'd know how ... i'd rather just take it somewhere to be done
