It could be that they ramped up production (Because of good buzz and
fuel prices driving customers) and when they did, tire balance and
wheel alignment suffered. Were the Hondas from different manufacturing
plants?

Some radial tires can develop temporary flat spots if not driven for a
while. Should become round after heating up.

Just went car shopping. Drove a new Accord, Civic and Acura TL. No tire
problems with any of them. Actually, no problems like that with any of
the cars I drove, regardless of make.

YMMV

Accord and Acura TL have Michelin, yes? You just got lucky with the Civic.

Do the Civics still come with Fire** I mean Bridgestones?

I've decided that just about every Honda and Acura and probably most
other manufacturer's products have mediocre or worse tires. The worst
part is that they are optimized for long milage so you will be driving
on them forever. If/when I buy another new car I will probably have
the dealer switch tires before I drive it home. Life is too short to
drive on crummy tires.

I bought two new Hondas in the last year and almost immediately changed the
tires. On a civic Hybrid I changed the bridgestones for michelins (mileage
is the same), but I now have a tire with 740 tw rating, and antilock brakes
that don't need to activate on every puddle. On my Element, I changed the
miserable goodyears for Yokahamas with the same results. Changing the tires
makes all the difference.

Similar experience with several Hondas -- Civics and my Prelude. The OEM
tires are usually lousy and the replacements make all the difference.
