Default Error codes on 98 accord

Need help been a B16 motor guy for a while, But since I got married I sold
it all and bought a 98 Accord Coupe w/F23 motor vtec.

Well the check engine light came up.....I found the ECU but it doesnt have
a led eye in it to tell you what error code is causing the check engine
light to appear.

Ive been out of the loop ever since the the K series motors came out.

PLease help the old Honda tuner out... I need to find out why my check
engine light is on. For now I disconnected the ECU went to smoke a cig and
came back to put it in and the light is gone. But this is the 2nd time.
If anyone has a way of pulling codes from the new 6Gen's Please let me
know.

Default Re: Error codes on 98 accord

You need an OBD-II scan tool.

Default Re: Error codes on 98 accord

Often it's just your gas cap not sealed properly and the gas fume sensor
picks it up and gives you a code. Apparently they are quite sensitive. Make
sure gas cap is tight. You need the scan tool to check codes on those. If it
keeps showing check engine light then pay a little to have it scanned. If it
turns out to be gas cap, you may need a new one. Also light comes on for oil
change reminder on 99 Accord. Yours could be the same. Reset instructions
are in the owners manual. Good luck.
