Hi ,
I have a 2002 Honda Accord EX V6 with 40,000 miles on it, the car drives great and the engine is pretty powerful. The only problem I have is with the automatic transmission, the gear shift from 1st to 2nd is very rough. The car jerks when it shifts from 1st to 2nd, this is very apparent the first thing in the morning, when it is cold, once the engine warms up the problem is not noticable. I read on some websites, that 98-99 V6 Accords are notorious for their tranmission, a number of people were reporting complaints with 'slipping' transmissions, some guys even had to get the transmission changed within 100,00 miles, spending almost $4-5000. I don't know if this problem persisted in the 2002 Acccords. Just wanted to know if any of you guys have similar problems ? Thanks Nischal |

Not sure what the interval on new accords are but usually the change
in transmission fluid should be done at 30k. Has this been done? Also look at the color and smell of the transmission fluid, if it smells burnt or is not a cherry color, change the fluid. Honda trannies shift a bit harder than other makes, but if you switch to plain old Dextron III, the shifts will really jerk you outta your seat. :-) 'Curly' ================== |
