My 90 Accord works good when it's cold but when it warms up most times it
develops a flat spot on acceleration, starts to misfire, the more pedal you give it the more it moans like there is a shorage of fuel. Soon after that the yellow engine light comes on and it starts working good again. I think it goes into bypass mode because it's hard on gas after the light comes on. The engine code comes up O2 sensor so I replaced it. Still no good. Sometimes I get a code 1 sometmes code 43 fuel supply circuit. If tf there was a fuel delivery problem it shouldn't get better after the engine light comes on.Threfore I have ruled out pump, filter and regulator, I'm thinking it must be on the electrical side but don't know what to try next. Any idea's?. |

I have exact the same problem in my 1991 Accord.
Does not matter is Sports switch is on or off. Replaced O2 sensor as well. Also replaced the distributor due to oil leak. Had Transmission computer replaced due to flashing "S" Fuel filter changed too. But still the cold hesitation in 2 gear during acceleration. Once the car is warm runs fine. If the check engine light comes on runs great. I also sometimes here popping ( like a mild back fire under the hood) during the flat spot. Letting of the gas the pressing the peddle to the floor brings it back to life too. Yes thats it, if you floor it when it's sputtering it will clear but the
engine light comes on. After you shut the car off the light resets and its good for a while again. I got almost the same problem with my Honda Accord -92 2.0 i. When the
engine is cold it runs just fine, but when it's warm I can't let the foot from the pedal because it stops directly. Sometimes it is also impossible to start again. The engine light comes on after running warm for a good wile. If I switch off the car and wait for a few minutes then it has reset. For what I have heard this can be an issue concerning the electronics that controls the injection. As I write, the car is at a garage where they are searching for the error. I will let you know what comes up. Have faith ![]() |
