Default 86 CRX Heat Shield Removal

Has anyone every permanently removed the heat shield from their CRX,
Accord, Civic? I have removed the stock carburetor and replaced it
with a Weber 32/36. I have successfully removed and/or plugged all of
the emission control stuff. With the heater hose to the air intake
temp sensor no longer needed, the exhaust header heat shield (shroud)
now seems superfluous. Any thoughts out there?
Tom
