Default 1 hr after purchasing battery dies

I bought a 2007 Honda CRV and drove it off the lot this morning.

Right after picking it up I drove around 15km to a beach to put my stuff in the car. Ran the music with the engine off for approx. 10 - 15 and it was dead .... I mean dead, not a peep or sound.

Dealer came and gave me a boost and said that I can't run my radio with the engine off.

I think that is absolutely ridiculous bunk. Never heard of such a stupid thing.
So you go to the beach and want to watch the sun go down and you have to keep your car running to get sound?!?!!?

People would sling mud at you or worse for idling.

Can this be true? If so, I don't want the flipping thing. I drive and sit a lot with radio or cd going.

I want them to put in a new battery ..... not very good for the first hour of owning a vehicle!!!

ps: He says that everything runs, ie: navigation etc in the background even when it has been turned off and/or not in use. Is this true?

Well, alot of the computer stuff is running even when turned of, I think you have a short somewhere that is sucking your battery dry, there is no reason you cant listen to music with the car off. somewheere is a short. its rare but there are cases of factory screw ups. you only have about 40 sec to work on the car on the assembly line and some stuff does get messed up although it shouldnt especially Honda. But i got my money on a shot somewhere on whatever electronic is being turned on when the key is in the ignition.
