Unhappy 09 tl. car feels like it is redlining at 5 k rpms for some reason. please give advice y!

Every time since yesterday I drive my tl in sport mode and am in 1st gear, feels like its red lining at around 5,000 rpm's and then will go up to the full 6600 or 6700 rpm's (which ever it is). I dont know why it is doing this or what the problem could be? My oil life gauge says it has 50 percent oil life but do drive my car pretty hard and make sure i shift before the redline. Since i drive it hard could it be i'm burning oil faster and need to add more oil?

please let me know what you think could be the problem and what I should do...:(
