Default driveaxle

1990 Acura Integra GS 5spd. While under the car to replace the starter
I found the axle boot ripped.

Do the axles slide in/out of the transmission? And how hard is it to
break the balljoint loose from the lower control arm.?

Popping the balljoint taper is trivially easy...with the right tool.

Just remember to put the castle nut back on upside down BEFORE pressing on
the post in order to avoid spreading the threads!

Drain the tranny before popping the right-side axle. The axles pop out of
the tranny/center bearing with the help of a pry bar. When you reinstall,
buy new set rings. Put some grease on the set ring to hold it centered as
you slide the shaft back in.
