Default I hate Rain-X!

Is there a way to get this crap off my windshield? I have a mnew set
of Bosch blades and they squal like a raped pig. My idiot brother
borrowed the car and decided to pay me back by putting that crap on
there. So I restrained my self and said Ok thanks.
I'm nto applying this crap every other week. I had it on my old Legend
and it was the worst thing I ever did.
There HAS to be a way to get rid of it...

The wiper blades are less than a month old, I tried cleaning them.

I heard a mildly abbrasive soap such as Comet works. It's something you can
pick up at the supermarket in the household cleaning supplies section.
Shouldn't scratch the windshield since the glass is much harder.

Try some glass cleaner with ammonia in it.

I suspect that Comet cleanser -would- scratch your windshield.
Personally,*I* would not try it.

(BTW,I love Rain-X,but I use the w.washer additive.In a rainy climate like
Florida,it's a lifesaver.)

You could try some Dawn dish soap. It has a high alkaline content and it's
what Zaino recommends to strip all the old crap off your car once a year.
You could also try a windshield cleaner like the Zaino product (can't
remember the model number). It is mildly abrasive, so it may work.

Sorry, you can find Zaino info at www.zainobros.com I am not affiliated with
them, though it may seem with my praise, but I am just a true believer in
their products!

I don't know - a friend once said he tried it, and it worked w/o scratching.
This was months after I tried RainX once, so didn't have to use it.

Rain-x is a wax product, homogenized in alcohol. You apply it and the
alcohol disappears, leaving the wax. Try mixing up a cup of alcohol
with about a cap of Dawn liquid detergent and work it onto the window
with a paper towel or newspaper. The paper should absorb all the wax.
Flush with water.

Comet is silica, like the glass, so it can scratch. Soft Scrub or Bar
Keeper's Friend will do it though.

I was happy with Rain-X until I used the towelless-drying (non-streaking)
car wash. It rained that afternoon and when we turned on the wipers it
looked like the wipers were loaded with white paint! It created a waxy white
smear that was impossible to see through. Windshield cleaner at the gas
station didn't help at all, but a whole lot of hard rubbing with paper
towels got it to a state that we could drive home. If it had happened at
night we would have been stuck. It took most of an hour with Bar Keeper's
Friend to get the stuff off.

Mike

I don't think it's wax - it says it is a polymer that bonds chemically to
the glass surface.
