How does it work viz calipers? Is the part that connects to the
caliper repairable by a "home mechanic" or must you purchase a whole
emerg brake assembly?

Do you need any special tools to replace the rear calipers on my 90
Integra?

The parking brake mechanism is internal to the caliper, and is protected by
a snap ring deep inside.

The external part consists of the spring, lever, and parking brake cable.
The cables are replaceable, and are detached at the clevis.

What's wrong that prompted you to post this question? If the lever is
seized or swings freely, the only real practical solution is a
remanufactured replacement caliper.
