Hello again. I often have trouble shifting my 94 Integra into reverse. It feels like the gears won't quite line up for the shift. I can usually coax it into shifting by pulling it towards reverse while I slowly let up on the clutch. Sometimes this will get it into gear, but just as often will cause the grinding noise you would expect from releasing the clutch too early during a shift. I had a similar problem on my 88 Accord, but shifting it into an opposing gear (1st, 3rd, or 5th) and then reverse would apparently line up the synchros enough to allow it to go into reverse. I changed the fluid on my Integra in December or early January (using the Honda manual tranny fluid), so I don't think that's the problem. Any thoughts?

They may not be lining up right. In my Jetta, when the shifter linkage bushings wear out, shifting becomes more interesting. =) -- Mauricio raub-kudria-com (if you need to email me, use this address =) |

TIA I have a 95 Integra GSR that sometimes is hard to get into reverse, especially when cold. The solution I use is to shift into neutral, let the clutch out, push clutch in, shift into reverse. Works every time. Must have something to do with getting the tranny internals spinning. I also religiously use Honda MTF. |
