Hi all,

My moon roof is leaking badly on my 1990 Legend LS! It seems that if I
have the car parked in the rain for any length of time(I don't have a
garage), then once I start driving, all this water starts to pour in from
the edges of the plastic / cloth sliding panel under the glass.

However, if I am already driving and it starts to rain when I am driving,
it doesn't seem to have this problem.

So I am guessing that water is collecting only when the car is stationary
and then not being drained off?!?!?!

I have looked at the rubber gasket thingy around the edges of the glass
moon roof and it seems to be intact and sealing completely when the moon
roof is closed. Also, I noticed that there appear to be two drain holes in
the FRONT of the well for the moon roof, and those don't LOOK like they are
clogged (but you can only see the opening).

Are there supposed to be drain holes in the back of that moon roof well
too? Or do I have to park on a hill with the front end angled down so that
any water that collects will drain out the front plug holes?

Is there a simple way to make sure those drains aren't clogged?

They lead to hoses that go down the roof pillars and vent under the
car.

Yes. They have hoses that go down the rear roof pillars and vent under
the rear fenders.

Plumber's snake.

The ones at the back end in an elbow fitting that you can get at by
removing the trunk liner behind the taillights.

Get a hold of am air compressor with the attachment tip that blows
air. Stick the "blower" end into the opening of the drain hole with a
snug fit. WHen you force the high pressure air throughthe system you
should see "junk" come out around the bottom of your car.

If you need to snake the tubes, rather than a plumber's snake which is metal
and could damage the tubes, try using the plastic string from a weed wacker.
It is fairly ridgid and there is less potential for damage.

I had the exact same thing happen to my 1987 Legend. It turnes out the
drainage holes were clogged with 10+ years of assorted crap. I took it to
a local aito trim place and they fixed it for about $20.00. There was a
kink in one of the hoses too.

did I ever thank you for this advice??? If not, I am sorry it took so long
to get back at you.

When I took it in for a smog check I had the people at the garage use
their air compressors to blow out the two front drain plugs and it seems
to work fine now - no more leaks.
