Can anyone suggest a cheap but good ODBI code reader for a 90 Accura Legend
LS? I see that Kragen has some dual ODBI / ODBII code readers listed online, but they say they are compliant with DOMESTIC ODBI specifications. They say they are only compliant with Honda / Accura cars being built after 96, so I am guessing they aren't compliant with foreign ODBI cars!?!?!? Maybe I am just confused about this. But if you can clue me in, that would be greatly appreciated. EZ Mark |

It cost me $35 and consists of a $30 book with a $3 Toyota jumper tool and a $2 Honda jumper / Nissan screwdriver. If yours has a 2.5 or 2.7 engine, you don't need even the book. Instructions are to warm up the engine first (I assume only if it is practical), turn on the ignition and look at the LEDs on the ECU (it doesn't say where that is on the '90, but 87-89 are by the passenger's toes under the carpet). Codes are flashed out with 2 second pauses between codes. The LED will stop flashing when all codes have been displayed. Codes are erased by unplugging the "Alternator sense" fuse for 10 seconds. The book lists 37 codes, so I don't want to post them all (lazy, ya know) but if you post your codes I can identify them. If your engine is not the 2.5 or 2.7, the book doesn't have a listing. Mike |

You don't need any jumpers. You do need something to decode what X number of flashes means. The 909 Legend uses the 2.7 liter 6. |

Thanks Nat_mann;
will try to look for it there and see if I can figure it out. Thanks Michael:
I also went online and saw there was an equus 3173 code Reader and that it has some information about reading the codes in a manual which, as fortune has it, you can dowload for free (legally!). so I will try that first. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. Mark |

I should have mentione that anyone interested in downloading this amnual
can do so by going to the following link: http://www.iequus.com/assets/manuals..._E_14JAN03.pdf Thanks again |
